When you want to get in shape, particularly if you’re not generally a physically active person then using swimming as a workout technique is a great way to go.

Because swimming workouts exercise the body with less stress on muscles, tendons and bones it’s a great physical activity that gets your heart pumping but doesn’t exacerbate and known or unknown physical conditions.

Being such a low-impact workout swimming allows people of all ages, sizes and physical condition to workout in comfort without the fear of straining muscles.

Simple things like pool running, kicking with a kickboard, or aqua aerobics are great ways to get in shape.

If you’re a beginner to swimming it’s suggested that you only do short bursts before resting and then repeating the cycle. Beginners may even want to take a couple of basic swimming classes so they can feel confident in their abilities.
